eLearning Tools @ UBC

UBC supports a variety of e-learning tools that offer academic departments with potential solutions for keeping in touch with students and continuing course activities during a campus closure.

There are also a number of Web 2.0 tools available (some for free) that can support your academic continuity readiness.  It is important to keep in mind that many of these tools are hosted on servers in the United States and therefore fall under the jurisdiction of the Patriot Act.  You can certainly use these tools if you let students know in advance that a particular tool is not a UBC-hosted or supported too.   Here is a selection of tools and some brief information on the learning and teaching functions they can support:

  • Facebook
  • MySpace
  • Twitter
  • Instant Messaging
